"كنا في الميدان..."
من ساعة الثورة ما قامت واحنا معاكو. في هتافكم و في نومكم على الرصيف و في كل معركة و كل دفاع، وش صغير باكي و خايف وتاني منور سعيد بمشاركته و مرحب بيكو في بيته: الشارع. بس الثورة حطت علينا أعبائها و لبستنا زي "البلطجة" وفيه منكم استسهلوا التهم ونسيوا إننا أطفال والثورة لينا حلم وفرصة زي ما هي ليكم بالظبط.
من وقت الثورة ما قامت و فيه منا كتير اتضرب واتحبس وحصلت ضده اعتداءات كتيرة. من ساعة الثورة ما قامت وفيه 43 طفل منا اتعرضوا على محاكم عسكرية من غير محاميين وساعات من غير ما أهلهم يعرفوا أصلاً. ودول اللى احنا نعرفهم. بس يا ترى اللي مانعرفهمش قد إيه؟
القانون بيقول احمونا. وفيه منكم دافعوا عنا عشان يسيبونا ومايحاكمونا. واحنا بنقول ايه ؟
احنا 20 طفل هانحكي ونرسم ونغني ثورتنا. تعالوا إسمعونا من 22 أبريل لــ 2 مايو في جاليري تاون هاوس، 10 ش النبراوي، وسط البلد، القاهرة (خريطة المكان) !

"We were there too…"
They trickled into the revolution from day one. Little faces filled at times with fear, at others open with excitement. They welcomed us to their world, the streets. The revolution filled them with hopes for a kinder world at first, one where the child-laws may prevail, and the arrests and abuse may stop. Where children may be protected, rather than punished for a childhood on the streets. But month after month their reality got crueler, as the military council crowned the children as thugs.
Over the last year, hundreds of children have been arrested, beaten, their childhoods violated. Forty three children were made to appear before military courts, without lawyers, and often without their parents.
These are the children we know of.
In this exhibit, twenty children paint their revolutionary realities, the peaks of hope, and the moments of despair. And what it is they think we should know. Come and join them from April 22nd to May 2nd, at Gallery Town House, 10 Nabarawy Street, Down town, Cairo. (Check the map)
